what happens to their cells? How can you get them to be healthy? I'm not asking about human frostbite just marigold frostbite!
What happens to marigolds when they become frostbite?
The cells of the marigold pop as the water in the cells freeze. Marigolds are annuals so wait until next spring and plant some more Marigold seeds.
Reply:you can't fix them. just plant new ones. Next year wait until all frost has past

What plant is this? Tomato, marigold, or what?
During the 90 days of spring it grows from a seed to about 1 or 2 feet tall. The leaves are kite-shaped, with the stem attached to the head point of the kite. Each leaf is around 1 or 2 inches long. The main stem has branches, and the leaf stems branch from the branches. They seem randomly spaced, mostly alternating. The leaf edges tend to be concave and serrated, but seem a little random. There have not been any flowers yet, not even buds, so they probably bloom in mid to late summer. It's almost sure to be the kind of plant someone would want in a garden, because the seeds came from garden seeds, but the person who planted them forgot what they were, and says "thought they were marigolds, or maybe tomatoes".
They definitely don't look like marigold plants. They do vaguely resemble tomato plants, but have enough differences to make it clear that they aren't ordinary tomatoes, and probably not tomatoes at all.
What plant is this? Tomato, marigold, or what?
You'd have more success if you posted a photo. On the other hand, tomato plant leaves have a distinctive odor. I'd check for that if you have smelled tomato plant leaves before, you'd recognize it...
Reply:wiat for it to have flowers and fruits, and see what plant it is.
Reply:tomatoes grow much faster. maybe they are zuccines?
Reply:Tomatillio or Ground cherry? Or a datura- in which case you shouldn't eat it.
...All of these are in the nightshade family (along with tomatoes) and can usually be found in gardens.

Could you please tell me what some facts, magic and/or belief of the Margold during the Medieval age. Please write down the source thank you!!

The MOST "interesting fact" about the beliefs of the Marigold during the Medieval age was that there beliefs were (STRONGLY) "Condemned" by the Catholic Church !

Rabbits and Marigold?
Is it true that people plant Marigold flowers in their vegetable gardens to keep wild rabbits out. If so why do the rabbits stay away from the plant.
Rabbits and Marigold?
Hi,
I'm not sure Marigolds will keep rabbits away, my pet rabbit just loves to eat the flowers.
I think people put "other" plants next to crops, to mask the scents, so by keeping pests away.
If you plant spring onions next to carrots, by thinning them both out together, the scent of the onions will keep away carrot root fly.
Reply:Some gardeners plant marigolds in their vegetable gardens to repel harmful insects. Studies have concluded they are not effective in reducing insect damage on vegetable crops. French types may be useful for root-knot nematode control in soil.
http://hgic.clemson.edu/factsheets/hgic1...
I have planted two marigolds at the heat of a small path behind my home. I really thought the rabbits and deer would chomp them down. However, the small marigold plants are still there...one month later. There is a chemical in the marigolds that repels some insects.
Edit: Chrysanthemums (Mums) also have a similar effect. They contain a chemical that repels insects, also.
Reply:Better fix metal nets along border to keep away wild and stray animals. Marigold flower is proteinaeous food and repells only soil nematodes.

Growing marigold?
what type of fertilizer is best used to grow marigold?
how long it takes to fully bloom(singapore)?
Growing marigold?
When prepairing the soil for planting, add some "Blood And Bone". If you have compost use that as well. Dig to a depth of 15cm and leave for a few days then plant the marigold seedlings and you should have flowers in about 6 weeks.
Good luck.
Reply:Marigolds are not very picky about the soil and don't need much fertilizer. Miracle grow fertilizer is good. Once they start growing they will get blooms fast - maybe 30 to 40 days at the most!

They were shaped sort of like inchworms but they were violet in color instead of green and they were in the middle of the blossoms.

I have yellow & gold marigolds that have about 5 slender petals on the flower, what kind of marigold are they?
You have "French" marigolds..(Tagetes Patula)
They are a single flower and come in a variety of colors from orange, yellow, and mahogany. Some are multi-colored as well. Hope this answers your question....

How does a marigold plant reproduce?
They seed after there blooms, let them dry on the plant, then put them in a paper bag for next year.
Reply:At the end of the season when the marigolds die off and start drying up, the head of the flower closes up, if you pull the head of the flower off, and pull the actual part of the flower out, there are your seeds for next year. Make sure that you put the seeds in either a plastic bag or some kind of air type container so that they stay dry. Next spring, lay them out for about a day or two to make sure they are dried before you replant them. Marigolds are plants that need to be replanted every year around spring time, so in the fall after you have taken the seeds out, dig out the entire plant and basically throw it away. Hope this helps!
Reply:They have seeds. What you can do is when the buds die off save the bud. Then you open up the bud and see all these white and black pieces in there. Well they are the seeds. You can plant them the next year.

Are marigold seeds if swallowed toxic?
No, but I would not recomment eating too many.
Are marigold seeds if swallowed toxic?
Yes, they can be.
The Washington (State) Dept of Health lists the marsh marigold as a toxic plant. (The whole plant is toxic, not just the seeds.) Other websites I found list it as potentially lethal but I think that would be in massive doses. EDIT: The D o H does NOT list it as lethal.
Here is the link to the Wa. D o H search page. It's a free, non-comerical site.

Type in 'toxic plants' and it will take you to the list. (The URL for the toxic plants page was so long I wasn't sure if it would even fit in this answer page.)
Note that it is listed under Marsh Marigold
If you are concerned that a child has swallowed any seeds or eaten leaves, etc, call a doctor for advice.

When competing in a cow pat throwing competition, is it etiquette to wear bright yellow marigold gloves?
We had one of those competitions at last years village fete, can't stand the damned stuff myself, so I got my man Cuthbertson to throw it for me. Cuthbertson failed miserably, so I told him, " Rather a poor show that, what?" The fellow muttered something about he could have done better wearing gloves, he even had the temerity to ask for the throwing competition entrance money back, damned impertinence if you ask me. Still, when I docked him a days wages, that took the smile off his face I can tell you.

no gloves allowed!!!
Reply:Personally I would wear pink ones or even better the long blue ones that come way up my arms. I don't care if the cow pats are nice and dry, I wouldn't stick my bare hands anywhere near them.
Reply:brown or black would suffice
Reply:I believe that formality is relaxed at these events and would suggest that the gloves can be yellow bur it may be that you look for a pink pair. If it is a Young Farmers do you need to keep the gloves on until you are safely home.
Reply:I think that is wonderful, it is hygienic anyway.

If my Marigold's are already dropping seeds.....?
If my Marigold's are already dropping seeds, will those seeds begin to grow? Since it is still so early in growing season.. Spring started in February and we will continue to have warm weather until late November before any temperatures begin to drop. Or do the seeds need 'sleep' for a season? Thank you in advance for your help.
If my Marigold's are already dropping seeds.....?
I'm sure they will grow. If you will "deadhead" (cut off the almost dead flowers), your grown plants will keep on blooming.

Are marigold plants perrenial?
Well, not technically. Your plants will die. BUT the wonderful thing is you can snip off blossoms as they die and dry them on paper towels then you can break apart the flowers and get a zillion seeds. These seeds can be saved and you can use them next year. Also sometimes the seeds will sprout themselves if you dead head and let the seeds drop in your garden. By collecting seeds each year you can expand the number of types you grow each year with out spending a fortune. Each year just buy a few more types and save the seeds from each kind. You can either carefully label and even put a digital picture on each saved kind or mix them all together and get a surprise. :-D Good luck!
Are marigold plants perrenial?
No but they self seed like mad so that's why they seem to be
Reply:Marigolds are usually considered annuals, but there are some marigolds called Tagetes that come in several both annual and perennial species.
Reply:In short no. However each plant produces lots of seeds if you leave the flower head on. These will self seed giving you more marigolds next year.
Reply:No they're annuals, you have to plant the seeds every year.
Reply:No they are annuals: they germinate, flower, set seed and die in one year.
Perennials are plants that go on flowering for more than 3 years. These include herbaceous perennials, ie those which do not go woody and die down each winter, and woody perennials eg shrubs/trees.
Biennials,eg foxglove, put on leafy growth in the first year and flower in the second.
There are such things as "ephemerals", ie they can germinate, flower, set seed and die several times a year, eg weeds
The botanical names are listed below
French marigold = Tagetes patula
pot marigold = Calendula officinalis
African marigold =Tagetes erectus
Reply:The french marigolds are not you have to grow them from seed each year but the calendula the larger marigolds come backfor a few years. Of course nothing lasts forever and you will have to replace those eventually. You can collect the seeds from the flower heads keep them dry and plant them in late spring.

How do I prune marigold?
Marigolds are annuals, in other words they only live for one year. In the winter they dry and die. You can pull them out and open all the seedpods and lightly cover the seeds with soil so the birds don't find and eat them. In the spring you will have a good chance that the seedlings will grow into beautiful blossoming marigolds again! Don't forget to water the seedlings.
How do I prune marigold?
Just cut the dead heads off, They are annuals %26amp; stay one season unless they self seed
Reply:I work in a greenhouse and have for a few years now. We "dead head" the marigolds and new blossoms open. We do this the entire season we are open (May through June), but marigolds bloom for longer than that.
So just pop off the dead blossoms and new ones will appear...I recommend only taking the most dead blossoms to keep a little bit of color in your garden.
Reply:you should remove the flowers as they turn brown and trim the dead leaves and stems as they die so the plant won't get spindley.
Reply:YOU DONT PRUNE MARIGOLDS.iF YOU WANT FLOWERS FOR NEXT YEAR PULL OLD FLOWER OFF AND PUT IN PLASTIC BAGS AND PUT IN FRIG.THE OTHER ONES JUST DROP ON THE GROUND WHERE YOU WANT THEM TO GROW.YOU DONT HAVE TO COVER WITH DIRT.I HAVE BAGS OF THEM IN MY FRIG NOW.AND NEXT YEAR ILL HAVE TO TRANSPLANT OTHER ONES THAT WILL COME UP IN YARD AROUND MY FLOWER BEDS AND IN FLOWER BEDS I ALWAYS HAVE A MESS OF THEM.

Check with a nursery; they are also VERY easy to grow from seed. Since it's getting close to winter, however, you might want to wait until spring.

They seem to always have lots of marigolds for sale. Although, the mums are very popular now since they are a winter flower. I was just at Lowe's the other day and they had marigolds for sale and if they have them, Home Depot probably does, also.

How long does a marigold live?
marigolds are annuals, so they only live for one growing season unless you live in a very warm location. They may reseed themselves and have babies the next year.
Reply:I love marigolds and have them every year in my garden. They remind me of my Grandma's farm. Anyway, they are an annual here in Wisconsin, or other cold places and will die when it gets below freezing. However, you can take the dried seeds and replant them year after year. There are so many kinds of marigolds, as far as color and height, so I am sure there is one that is sure to look great in your garden! I usually do all my annuals in pots so that they are an easy clean up in the fall and if I want to save the seeds it is very easy to access.
Reply:That really depends. Some reseed themselves and never go away. These ones are a pain in the butt as they take over your whole garden bed and take years to get rid of if you don't want to use poison.
My advice stay clear of them altogether. But some people really like em so i guess its up to you. Check with your local plant nursery if your not sure as to what type you have.
Reply:usually 3 -9 months.

What are some diagnostic characteristics of Calendula (Marigold)?
Calendula officinalis has a clasping leaf attachment. The leaf partially encircles the stem. The leaf attachment points spiral around the length of the stem. The leaves are slightly hairy and oblong.
The inflorescence is radially symmetric. The bracts at the base of the flower are narrow green %26amp; leafy. They have two 'petal' types the surrounding ray florets and the central disc florets. The petals give both color and flavor, similar to saffron, to food.

Calendula, native to southern Europe %26amp; the Mediterranean, do well in sandy loam and tolerate fairly acid soils well.

Marigold platy won't leave blue gourami alone?
I just added a neon blue gourami to a 55 gallon tank that contains 5 black neons, 2 diamond tetras, 2 corys, and a marigold platy. As soon as I added the gourami to the tank the platy started stalking him in the tank and won't leave his side. Is this going to stress out the gourami and does anyone know why this is happening?
Marigold platy won't leave blue gourami alone?
I would tend to agree with tiki, but you may be able to do something about the platys behavior. If it's being territorial, try removing it (temporarily) and rearranging any decor you have in the tank. Give the others some time to get to know the new layout, then reintroduce the platy. Since the "boundaries" of the territory have changed, the two fish will be on more equal ground, with the gourami having a slight advantage of knowing where the escape routes and hiding spots are.
I'd also add a few more of the tetras - these are another schooling fish that should be in a school of at least 5.
Once your gourami becomes settled into the tank, I doubt he'll put up with the platy.
Reply:Probably just being territorial. Sometimes they do that. I'm surprised the gourami's taking it lol, mine shoos everyone out of his way. Try adding a few more platies similar to that one. Maybe it'll take it's mind off the gourami. I'd also add a couple more cories to your tank, they love being in shoals.

Has anyone every tried EQyss Marigold Spray as a fly repellant on horses? If so, how did you like it?
I used this stuff and LOVED it. Its just as effective as most fly sprays and while slightly more expensive it smells wonderful and doesn't hurt the horses if my chance they get it in their eyes (which I had one horse do when my mom was fly spraying him).
It isn't a miracle that will keep all the flies off, but as most horse owners know, no fly spray has the ability to keep flies off for a long period of time. It keeps many of them from biting and isn't oily and offensive. I love this stuff and swear by it.
Has anyone every tried EQyss Marigold Spray as a fly repellant on horses? If so, how did you like it?
Terrible stuff, doesn't work at all.
Which is unfortunate, because other EQyss products, like Premier Spray (smells amazing too!), Micro-Tek (excellent for skin conditions) and McNasty (for horses that chew wood, etc) work very well!
For effective fly spray you're better off with a tried and true product like Ultra-Shield.
Bronco doesn't work very well, either.
Reply:I'm afraid that I haven't personally, but my friends use it and they love it...the most that I know for sure is that it smells AWESOME...but I heard that it works well too, which is expected by EQyss...
Reply:i bought it at a local tack store and it was the cheapest repellant they sold so i gave it a try. it smells wonderful and worked well...but only for a month or too and then i think the flies became immune to it.
Reply:I have never tried it, but it is one of our best sellers at the store. I only buy spray that also kills ticks and mosquito's.
Reply:Marigold is the only flyspray we use at our barn. It seems to be the only flyspray that works for us, and it smells really good too. :) I love it.

Looking for marigold seed mix in a large bag complete with fertilizer and mulch. Where can I buy it?
Hi:
I have tried lots of methods of planting marigolds, I have never heard of that paticular method, I believe that the fertilizer would harm the seed if they were all in the same bag, I suggest going to the nursery or Wall-Mart, I like to get several colors of marigold already potted, I also find that its cost effective and I get to choose the arrangement of colors, Just a Suggestion Lots of luck and good Gardening!

Marigolds are one of the easiest flowers to grow. I don't think you will find the fertilizer with the seeds this will burn the seeds up. I always use seeds from last years crop But I started out buying a seed mix. My garden is an organic garden so most of my plants come from seed.

Is a marigold an annual or perennial?
It's an annual but save some of the seed and you will have beautiful flowers again next year.
Is a marigold an annual or perennial?
Annual. Some "annuals" we treat as such are actually perennials or biennials, but marigold is an annual flowering plant.
Reply:In our part of the country, what people normally call marigold is Tagetes, a Mexican species that, strangely, comes in African and French cultivars. This is the pretty, usually stinky flower in shades of yellow, orange, cream or red. These are free-seeding annuals. Tough little buggers.
Some people call Calendula the pot marigold. It is also an annual and easily reseeds.

I am searching the market for the sale of organic products such as Apple,Pear,Marigold flowers. Help me.?
I am an orchardist growing organic products ( without using chemicals %26amp; pesticides) the product is certified from "INDOCERT"(A reputed certifying agency) I am searching the persons who are actually serious regarding thier health. This is the bad luck of India that there is a very tough compitition between good looking products and others.Actually the compitition should be between good health %26amp; others. There is a need of revolution to kill these chemical products %26amp; pesticides which are distirbing our environment.
This is not an advertisment but of course,I want to ask the people why they are using the products which are treated by chemicals %26amp; protected by pesticides.
A chemical treated product can be a good looking but it is not good for your health. Some farmers use chemicals or pesticides today and serve it you tomorrowwhich is going directly to your body.
CHOICE IS YOURS BECAUSE BODY IS ALSO YOURS.
I am searching the market for the sale of organic products such as Apple,Pear,Marigold flowers. Help me.?
Renate is right, Arun. Education is a big factor. Another important one is, of course, the cost. Organically grown products are still significantly more expensive than conventional ones, partly because many of the latter get subsidized. Of course only some of just can claim we really cannot afford the extra cost to spare our health. But consider the average american diet, and you will see that health isn't considered as much a priority as it should. The third factor is culture, which can influence people's decisions of what to eat. It is a lot easier to keep yourself healthy and health-conscious if you are surrounded by people that are doing the same. The opposite is also true, unfortunately. I hope that gives you some insight.
Reply:No body could suggest me the actual market address, I am confused now. No comments. Report It
Reply:Arun, I agree that organic shouldn't be more expensive. But if your competitor (conventional) is subsidized and can produce larger amounts, you won't be able to beat their prices. About an address, you might want to narrow down what country/region you are looking for. Report It
Reply:It is a matter of education, Arun, for instance in the US more and more people are wanting organically grown foods.
Keep up with the educational campaign your are doing and people will start to ge the idea that orgianically grown foods are much healthier

What are some facts about the marigold flower ?
I am using that info for a science project
What are some facts about the marigold flower ?
Spider mites love them. Do your experiment to study which kind they love better. Grow some orange ones, some yellow ones, some white ones and some french ones. Purchase some variegated ivy as a house plant and grow the marigolds in a circle around it. Variegated ivy house plants draw spider mites like a magnet. Soon they will all have a good infestation of spider mites. After four weeks or however long you have, shake the plants of each color on a piece of white paper and count how many mites fall out of each color. That will tell you which marigold is most resistant (or least preferred) and which one is least resistant (or most preferred.)
Reply:you can use them to make a spice similar to saffron. people plant them with tomatoes to keep bugs away.
here is some info on wikipedia

Reply:They are natives of Mexico.

Reply:One fact that I know is that farmers tend to use them to keep animals away from their crops, because of their smell.
Reply:You are supposed to plant them as a hedge around your plants because rabbits, skunks and other plant eating varmits don't like the smell and will stay away.

What would you say are Marigold(the plant)'s growth rate???
I'm doing an experiment and can't find the answer to this anywhere online!!! Help Plzzz!!!!!!!!!!
What would you say are Marigold(the plant)'s growth rate???
I deadheaded my marigolds and scattered the seeds and I had marigolds all over my garden within 3-4 weeks. I did this all summer and by fall when all my other plants were dying off my garden was smothered in beautiful fall colors
Reply:If you wanted just a "story" instead of an informational answer that you might learn from, I'd of written it with alot more "bologna". Unbelievable! Report It
Reply:Is it a marsh marigold or another kind..there are different types of soils.
Reply:fast. They flowers within a month of planting
Reply:Its classified as a fast grower. It is an "annual" flower, which means that it goes from seed to bloom in 1 growing season which is considered to be fast growing, then dies back after the first hard frost. It completes its life cycle within a years time. Hope this answers your question.

From where I can procure seeds of VIPUL variety of Marigold flower?
Check with seed supply stores near by.
There is one in Bombay India that keeps all kind of seeds.
It is located across from Byculla Railway Station. It is also very near Bombay 27 Post Office. There is a lane/road next to it and the post office is reachable by that lane.
In USA go to any nursery and see if they have a catalogue and request to look at them, if they do not stock this seed, you will find it in one of the catalogue.
Go on line and search, use any search block like G"gogle" and put "seeds of VIPUL variety of Marigold flower".

Why has my french marigold started to die?
yesterday it was lush and green, today it looks likes the leaves have shrivelled up
Why has my french marigold started to die?
Normally, it's a lack of water or slug attack. Better get those pieces of grit around your marigolds. They do like the sun too, so are they in the shade? Organic gardening, that's good for the planet. Birds can accidently eat slug pellets. Not good!
Reply:I really don't know but I would like to find out. Some of my marigolds have turned pasty and died too. I thought maybe it was the heat. It has been over 100 everyday for the last month but I water them everyday. Some of them look great. Maybe there is an insect that attacks them but I don't see anything.
Reply:More than likely the cabbage moth is to blame. The caterpillar of this moth particuarly attacks the roots of this plant also it likes pelargoniums and china aster, having the same devastating effect.

I just planted marigold flowers around my house. How often should I water them?
Caring for marigolds is covered on this site.

I just planted marigold flowers around my house. How often should I water them?
this depends on rain and did you water the hole before planting marigolds will droop when they need water as most plants do water once a week for now and water in the pm when the sun is down plants that are flowering require more water than plants that have not bloomed yet and remember to dead head them and place the flowers in a cool dry place to use for next season
Reply:Marigolds are very hardy plants. I save seed and re-plant seedlings yearly. Since they are in the ground, they will need less water than those in containers. Depending on the amount of rain you get in your area, you may want to water them every 2 or 3 days, depending on the heat and sunlight. If you see their leaves wilting down during the day, you know it's time for a thorough watering. They will perk right back up within an hour or so after watering.

Marigold and other flowers being eaten, what to do???
Live in MO and planted several flowers in my yard, something is eating all of them, but not the flower i always find it on the ground next to the plant and they are uprooting some of them! Help!
Marigold and other flowers being eaten, what to do???
Buy you some bug spray that is safe to use on plants . You can find it in the garden centers of wal-mart , home depot , etc...
Reply:Wow. Something is eating your marigolds? Not too many things like them.
You could try putting down an Organic fertilizer, such as Milorganite, which some pests dislike because of it's smell. This fertilizer, among some others, is a byproduct from sewage. Yeah, it sounds bad, but people use it as a pest repellent.
Reply:I have the same problem when I put out the bedding plants. They go after things in pots on the porch too! They pull the plants right out. I think it is squirrels digging around where the dirt has been disturbed. They think someone has buried a nut for them maybe. I put some landscape fabric and bits of chicken wire, whatever I have, around the plants and spread a little mulch to hide it. It seems to slow them down.
Reply:It could be any number of critters, rabbit, squirrel, etc.if they are just eating the foliage.Call your local nursery. They will likely know what is in your area, and how to treat it.Good Luck

Does the liquid a marigold is watered affect it final height in centimeters?
Experiment. If you water any plant with plain water, it will not get as big as one that is watered with Miracle Gro or similar fertilizer in it.
Does the liquid a marigold is watered affect it final height in centimeters?
Not exactly, although if you stop watering the marigold it will not grow. To help them achieve great heights you need to feed them at least once a week with miracle grow or something similar and of course they will grow much better when the sun shines.

Wild bunny eating all my marigold?
Bullets.
Reply:There is something called Deer Scram that also works with rabbits too. All you have to do is spread it around and it will keep them away. It is $30 and comes in a large tub.
Reply:No need to spray, just buy some "moth balls" and put them on the ground by your marigolds, as rabbits dont like the smell, and will stay away, as will other animals.
Reply:The only way to stop rabbits from eating your plants is to put up a barrier eg. wire that they cannot fit through or climb over or under.
Reply:Try getting them away, but from the first poster,NOT KILLING THEM.Maybe, put something on the marigolds to make it tast bad?

Which end of the marigold seed do you plant down ?
someone told me that the black end of the seed is to be up with the fibre end down. !!
Which end of the marigold seed do you plant down ?
Don't worry, just drop them flat or however they fall. I've always grown them and that is fine. It would take forever to plant the seeds up and down and you definitely don't need to! There isn't a wrong way. I just scatter them down the furrow and thin them when they come up if needed. They are great, easy flowers to grow.
Reply:Just lay the seed on the soil surface
Reply:It does not matter I have just started planting my seeds left from last year, the only thing I do is put them in a pot a sprinkle a layer of dirt on them they pretty much do everything else them selves.Very easy plant to start and you will be rewarded with new seeds in the fall.
Reply:It won't matter. Plant it either way. Most people simply scatter the seeds, and then scatter a little soil thinly on top, pat gently, and wait.
My marigolds self-seed. The only thing I do to "help them out" is, inthe fall, when the plants have died and they are skeletons of their former selves, with dried seeds pods held up in the air, I trample the plants, and walk back and forth over them to break them up and help release the seeds out of the poods and get them scattered around.
Then late next srping, they come shooting up. I'll trnasplnat some of them, thin some, leave some to grow where they sprouted.
Reply:Sow seeds directly into the garden bed after all danger of spring frost is past. Dig down into the soil about 8 or 10 inches with a trowel or shovel and turn it over to loosen and aerate it. If the soil is thin mix in some organic matter such as peat moss, compost or chopped leaves to improve its drainage and ability to hold moisture. Break up any large soil clumps, then smooth and level the area. Sprinkle seeds on the soil as recommended on the seed packet label and cover with a thin layer of soil. Keep soil moist.
When sprouts are a few inches tall, thin them by pulling up the weaker, overcrowded ones, to allow space for the remaining ones to grow.

Someone gave me a few young Marigold plants and they are now a foot high with no flowers. What's wrong?
PROBABLY NOTHING FOR NOW. SOME ARE VERY SHORT AND THERE ARE MANY VARIETIES THAT GET VERY TALL. IF THEY START GETTING WEIRD LOOKING THEN THEY MIGHT HAVE LOST THEIR HYBRID AND WON'T DO ANYTHING. AND FERTILIZER WON'T MAKE ANYTHING BLOOM, IT WILL JUST GROW. MARIGOLDS WILL GROW IN ANYTHING, TOO. GIVE THEM A LITTLE TIME. SAVE THE SEEDS IF THEY DO BLOOM AND PLANT THEM NEXT YEAR... GOOD LUCK...

THANKS FOR THE POINTS! Report It
Reply:nothing just water an wate
Reply:You could try fertilizer, try a name brand like Miracle grow. Follow directions on the back to a T. Usually the liquid kind is the best and water at the same time. If that does not work try a premium soil, which usually has perlite or vermiculite in it or Container soil or annual soil. Just watch out for Miracle grow soil. It already has fertilizer in it. To much of a good thing is actually bad.
