Do marigolds really keep insects away?

Looking for some real solutions to insect problems, primarily yellow jackets and mosquitos. There are a lot of old wives' tales but I'd like to know what REALLY works.

Do marigolds really keep insects away?
For mosquitos you need a ecoliptis plant and set them around out side. Yellow jacked they make this bottle looking thing you can get at home depot and they fly in there but they can't get out. Back to the marigolds yes the insects don't like them so they stay away from your plants. Good luck
Reply:I have always planted marigolds along the borders of my veggie garden to attract the bees %26amp; other "good" bugs for pollination.

for yellow jackets--I keep a pan of meat drippings outside (away from where everyone sits)

for mosquitoes---well good luck on that one lol. I have read that a drop of lemon joy dishsoap in a white plate of water works. I have bought %26amp; planted citronella plants--they work somewhat. I burn citronella oil in lamps made for it--they work very well, the downfall is they produce a lot of soot which floats in the air %26amp; you breathe it in.

I am seriously considering buying a bug zapper this year. Unfortunately, they kill ALL bugs, not just mosquitoes
Reply:'Arnywear' its a fabric which has this aroma due to which 3000+insects dont bite. thts wht the site says.

I just had mosquitos problem.... no more bites while using the fabric.

And the best part is it is natural.
