Why does my dog keep smelling the marigolds?
Hey,

I would like you to now that you dont have to worry, all she is doing smelling theme because of its intense smell and sence Dachshund have noses very powerful she always has to experience that smell.
Reply:Dachshunds are "ground" dogs. She is probably smelling something under the ground. Gopher, mole, vole, squirrel? I really don't think it is the flower. I am not sure I understand the "this is not the time for years" part of your question. She has always done this in the same spot. Or this is new? She might be looking for a hole to dive into.
Reply:She may hae buried a bone in the area, and now she is trying to sniff it out.
Reply:Does she nibble on them at all? The only thing I can think of is that she likes they way they smell.. I think they stink personally..ol.. But maybe she is drawn to color and the scent.

Dogs really do enjoy certain scents, they are highly sensitive to scents as I am sure you are aware. So it would make sense to me that she would continue to smell something that she likes;-)

Do you have pictures of her doing this? If not, take tons because I think it is a really special thing and some day you will wish you had pictures.. I personally would really enjoy seeing a picture of her doing this;-)
Reply:We used to plant marigolds around our vegetable gardens to keep the rabbits out. Something about them not liking the smell of them. Maybe she is smelling the rabbits that have walked up the row of marigolds as they looked for a way around them rather than cross through them.
