What is the best way to get rid of grub worms without using poisons?

my marigolds are dying and I have a few grub worms.

What is the best way to get rid of grub worms without using poisons?
Nemotodes (sp?) are natural parasites that feed on grubs. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nematode#Ga...

Or you get get a bunch of moles.
Reply:There are ecologically-safe biological solutions that are natural anti-grub germs (made from infected dead grubs). They are species specific and can not harm anything other than grubs. After the grubs are killed their bodies are saturated with the germs and they are the source for the infection in any new grubs that show up.
Reply:"Rich Z" is right, but so is "Omajust". I doubt that the grubs are damaging your marigolds. Marigolds don't usually have trouble from grubs. Look for little bite marks around the main stem of your marigolds. If see anything like that, come out at night with a flashlight and see who's nibbling on them. Might be Japanese beetles or snails/slugs. For surface pests, use diatomaceous earth sprinkled in a line around your flowers. Most surface pests will not cross it. After watering, it will have to be reapplied. It's not expensive and it is non-toxic, as long as you don't breathe a bunch of it in (can irritate windpipe is all).
Reply:Positively identify the grub worms so you know the name. A excellent book to get is "Common Sense Pest Control" by Olkowski, Daar, Olkowski. It has descriptions of various pests and many of the pest controls they recommend are non-toxic and natural. Purchase some predatory nematodes, which are live organisms which prey on various types of grubs in the soil. You mix them with water and pour them around your infested plants. They multiply in the soil (I think you have to keep it moist to a certain level) and they will attack and kill the grubs. I had a bad grub problem and after one application of predatory nematodes, I never saw any grubs again. It was amazing. They are not cheap, however. Contact Gardens Alive or Peaceful Valley Farm Supply for a source of nematodes.
Reply:Turning the soil when your friendly birds are present will help. I haven't had grubs harm marigolds tho-- there may be another problem. The previous suggestion sounds good.

good luck

You can also do a search on yahoo or google.
Reply:catch them and use them as fishing bait
Reply:Milky spore powder is sold in our major gardening centers (fruitbasket flowerland for instance)

You apply by small amounts spaced out in your lawn - then it grows and fills out thru the soil. This will kill them and last up to 13 yrs....takes a little time to grow in your soil but it does solve the problem, except for the beetles they will develop into this spring/summer....but when they lay their eggs in your lawn, they won't survive!

Also, when you have no grubs, you have no moles either.
