In the effect of gamma rays on man in the moon marigolds?

What is the central conflict?

How is it resolved?

In the effect of gamma rays on man in the moon marigolds?
Tillie vs. her family

The conflict is never really resolved, but when Beatrice kills Tillie's pet rabbit, she regains the upper hand, more or less killing Tillie's brief rebellion and restoring things to their normal dominance/passivity way, the conflict settles briefly.

You could also explore the idea of Beatrice vs. herself. She seems to be wrestling a good deal with her own failures. There's the one scene where she's sitting with Ruth and talking about her father's vegetable store, and she seems to be angry later at both herself and Ruth for her perceived weakness in being motherly in those few moments.
